Survival Center gives thanks for food drive
On behalf of the Survival Center staff, volunteers and families, I would like to thank the community for their generous response to the 17th Annual Letter Carriers Food Drive. Thanks to the generosity of so many caring and concerned letter carriers who donated their time and their muscle on May 9, the Center received a desperately needed 23,580 pounds of food donated in Ludlow, Wilbraham and Indian Orchard.
I wold like to tell you that the food crisis is over but it's not. We are surviving month to month as far as food is concerned. During the holiday season we traditionally receive enough food to handle any deficit, but after the holidays it's day to day, week to week, month to month until the letter carriers drive in May. We are extremely grateful to everyone whose generosity extends beyond the holiday season and makes it possible for us to provide food security to almost 10,000 men, women and children this year.
For over 26 years the Center has been able to assist thousands of individuals with food, clothing or household items, because of you, the community. Thank you for helping us to help others because without your help our work would not be possible.
