|On behalf of my family and the employees of Utility Mfg. Co., I would like to express our gratitude to the Wilbraham Fire Department, Ludlow Fire Department and the Wilbraham Police Department. Without their quick response and professionalism, the damage to our building would have been catastrophic.|
On Oct. 28, Saturday morning, a fire broke out in the roof area of the building. The Wilbraham and Ludlow Fire Departments responded within minutes, and were able to control the fire. The Wilbraham Police Department assisted by controlling traffic on Boston Road and maintaining a safe zone around the property.
After the fire was out, a survey revealed that the entire roof area was on the verge of igniting. If that roof area were to go up, it is likely the entire building would have been lost. We consider ourselves very fortunate the damage was contained to one area. As it was, we were able to open our doors for business Monday morning.
In this day, where all of our town departments have to do more with less, it is a tremendous tribute to the training and dedication of our Fire Department that they were able to respond so quickly and effectively. This is another example of why Wilbraham is such a great place to live and work!
Again, our heartfelt thanks to all members of the Wilbraham Fire and Police Departments for their efforts to minimize the damage to our property. Also, we would like to thank the members of the community that have offered their support since the fire. You are all great friends and neighbors!
