It is with the deepest gratitude that I write to thank Wilbraham resident Nicole Murdoch and the Wilbraham Junior Women's Club for organizing a food drive at the Wilbraham polling sites on Election Day to benefit The Community Survival Center. This food drive collected an astounding 2,205 pounds of food for The Center's emergency food pantry. |
I would also like to thank Lisa Vartanian and Collin Vartanian for assisting Ms. Murdoch in delivering the food to The Center (Mr. Vartanian donated the use of his company truck for the delivery), the town of Wilbraham's election officials for allowing food to be collected at the polling sites, and of course the residents of Wilbraham for making the food drive such an overwhelming success.
Ms. Murdoch, who first approached us about the food drive, is to be commended for recognizing a great idea and "running with it". Pairing food drives with already established community wide events seems the perfect model for ensuring that the shelves of The Community Survival Center's emergency food pantry are sufficiently stocked throughout the year.
I would like everyone to know how much their efforts and generosity mean to the individuals and families whom it is our mission to serve. In this season of giving thanks and celebrating gifts of love, here at The Community Survival Center we give thanks for a community that does not turn away from its neighbors in need and that gives as much as it can out of its concern for them.
