SPRINGFIELD – Western New England University baseball coach Matt LaBranche announced on Dec. 10 that West Springfield's Tim Clark will serve as co-captain for the Golden Bears in 2013 along with Matt Anthonis.
"Tim and Matt were clear cut choices by staff and teammates alike. They are obviously proven performers but more importantly they exhibit all the qualities we find essential in our program," LaBranche, who enters his 14th season at the helm this spring with a 395-174 record, said. "They both have a tremendous work ethic and are highly committed to the success of the team. I am very pleased to have them serving and representing the program in this capacity."
Clark, a second baseman, made the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division III All-America First Team and D3baseball.com All-America Second Team.
He was the recipient of the ABCA Gold Glove Award after making only six errors in 244 chances for a .975 fielding percentage. He led the Golden Bears in batting (.428), hits (80), triples (5), slugging (.551) and on-base percentage (.464). A political science major, Clark also was the CCC Player-of-the-Year, All-NEIBA First Team honoree and was voted to the NCAA Division III New England Regional All-Tournament Team.
