POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – East Longmeadow's Chelsea Botta was named to the All-Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference's (MAAC) first team on Nov. 1. After being chosen to the All-MAAC Second Team as a junior, Botta elevated her game to the status of First Team recognition in 2012. Coming into the season with eight career points, she finished the regular season with the third-most points on Marist with 11. Botta has scored four goals and added three assists through 20 games.
Botta, a senior member of the Marist women's soccer team was also honored for her recent efforts as she was named to the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performers Weekly Honor Roll.
The outside marking back played a key role in the Red Foxes notching back-to-back 1-0 shutouts over Loyola and Rider. On Oct. 23, at home versus the Greyhounds, Botta and her fellow defensive backfield held the MAAC leading scorer Nichole Schiro to two total shots; one on goal. On Oct. 25, the dangerous Rider scorer Abi Cottam was held to the exact same stat line. With the two wins, Marist earned the top seed in the MAAC Tournament.
