SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Falcons, AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, announced on July 23 the addition of Andrew Joudrey to the 2013-14 roster, re-signing the 29-year-old forward to a one-year, AHL contract.

Joudrey, a six-year AHL veteran, served as the Falcons’ assistant captain for the past two seasons and posted 47 points (23 goals, 24 assists) in 146 games over that span. The Bedford, Nova Scotia native received the team’s Dick Casey True Grit award for his efforts throughout the 2012-13 campaign.

Joudrey played the previous four seasons with the Hershey Bears, after finishing his collegiate career at the University of Wisconsin in 2007. As a member of the Bears, Joudrey won the Calder Cup championship in 2008-09, netting a goal and three assists in 22 playoff games.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder was an eighth-round selection (249th overall) of the Washington Capitals in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

The Blue Jackets also announced on July 19 they signed defenseman Blake Parlett and forward Spencer Machacek each to a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract. As is club policy, further terms were not disclosed.

Parlett, 24, was acquired from the New York Rangers along with Marian Gaborik and Steven Delisle on April 3 in exchange for Derek Dorsett, Derick Brassard, John Moore and a sixth-round draft pick in 2014.

In 76 combined games with the AHL’s Connecticut Whale and Springfield Falcons last season, Parlett scored eight goals and dished out 24 assists for 32 points. He also recorded 93 penalty minutes and a plus/minus rating of plus-9.

A native of Bracebridge, Ontario, Parlett has appeared in 155 career AHL games with Springfield and Hartford, registering 14 goals and 44 assists for 58 points and 148 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound defenseman has also skated in 58 career East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) games with the Greenville Road Warriors, tallying eight goals and 31 assists for 39 points and 57 penalty minutes. He appeared in the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic as a member of Team ECHL.

Machacek, 24, was acquired from the Winnipeg Jets on March 10 in exchange for forward Tomas Kubalik.

Atlanta’s first pick, 67th overall, at the 2007 NHL Draft, Machacek has recorded two goals and seven assists for nine points and a plus-6 plus/minus rating in 25 career games with the Jets/Thrashers franchise. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound right winger has also appeared in 359 career AHL games with Chicago and St. John’s, registering 98 goals and 141 assists for 239 points and a plus-34 rating.
