Provost honored by Bay Path College for record-setting volleyball career Oct. 30,

HOLYOKE On Oct. 24, the Wildcats women's volleyball team honored their lone senior, setter Ashley Provost of Ludlow for her four year, record-breaking career at Bay Path College. Provost finished the evening with the match high 26 assists along with two kills, two service aces and a dig as Bay Path shut down New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponent Becker College 3-0 (25-6, 25-17 and 25-13).
Miller Co-Player of the Week
BUZZARDS BAY Kayley Miller, senior forward for the Westfield State University women's soccer team, was named the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week on Oct. 21.
The Ludlow native scored four goals and set school single-season records for goals (20) and points (48) while becoming the regular season champion Owls' all-time leading scorer (118 points).
She tallied twice in a 6-0 triumph at Rhode Island College and netted a pair of markers in 6-1 win over Framingham State.
Pereira earns spot on NE-10 honor roll
SOUTH EASTON Senior Nate Pereira landed on the weekly Northeast-10 Honor Roll this week for his performance at the AIC-Adelphi Intercollegiate Classic. Pereira finished tied for 13th with a seven-over par 149(77-72). He recorded the Yellow Jackets' best finish at the event.
WNE places third at ECAC golf championship
BERNARDSTON Senior Steven Langlois recorded a score of 170 (84, 86), tying for 27th overall as Western New England University (WNE) claim third place at the 14-team Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Men's Golf Championships that was hosted by Springfield College at the Crumpin-Fox Golf Club.
East Longmeadow's Kyle DiFranco led the Springfield College golf team to a sixth place finish with a 165 (74, 91).
Vital records hat trick for SC
SPRINGDFIELD Ludlow's Nina Vital found the back of the net three times to power the Springfield College women's soccer team to a 4-2 win against Mount Holyoke in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Oct. 20.
Scudder shows marked improvement in season debut
WEST HARTFORD Wilbraham's Paige Scudder cut down her time by six seconds in 100 backstroke (1:22.11), 20 seconds in the 100 butterfly (1:21.56), six seconds in 100 freestyle (1:11.0), and six seconds in 100 individual medley (1:22.81) as WNE women's swimming squad made its 2012-13 season debut on Oct. 20 at the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jay Pentathlon Invitational.
