Springfield Tennis Club to host Robert Freedman Memorial Tennis Tournament

SPRINGFIELD The Robert Freedman Memorial Tennis Tournament, an annual community tennis event that attracts adult men's and women's players from around Western Massachusetts and New England, will take place at the clay courts of Forest Park on Sept. 12 and 13. The tournament welcomes leading New England players to compete in events sanctioned by the USTA New England section, and also offers non-sanctioned events for local area players, of lesser skills, to give them fair competition, prizes and glory.

Springfield Tennis Club Inc. is pleased to again host this event that has a long history of superb tennis Tim and Chris Mayotte, Val Wilder and Jeff Morneau have been past champions and invites local tennis players to participate and the public to attend (admission if free).

The Robert Freedman Memorial Tennis Tournament features adult men's and women's singles and doubles events. Each event will also feature a consolation round.

The tournament begins Sept. 12 starting at 8:30 a.m. and Sept. 13 with semifinals in the morning and finals in the afternoon.

Springfield Tennis Club Inc. is a community tennis association that draws its members from throughout the Greater Springfield area of Massachusetts and northern Connecticut. The primary purposes of the club are to raise the necessary funds to maintain the beautiful, public, clay tennis courts at Forest Park and to provide tennis-playing opportunities for our members and all public parks players.
