Wyszynski earns NECC honors

WILBRAHAM — Newbury College women’s soccer senior goalkeeper Rachel Wyszynski of Wilbraham earned All-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Honorable Mention honors.

In her first full season in net for the Nighthawks, Wyszynski registered a .766 save percentage while tallying 82 saves including 43 against conference opponents.

She led the Nighthawks to two firsts in program history. Early in the season, she registered back-to-back shut-outs against Pine Manor College and Lyndon State College then, late in the year, helped the Nighthawks to three straight victories against Southern Vermont, Anna Maria and Bay Path College.

Reed’s goal not enough for Elms

CHICOPEE — Elms College sophomore defender Brendan Reed of East Longmeadow scored his first collegiate postseason goal, but top-seeded Southern Vermont College scored four second half goals to lift the Mountaineers to a 4-1 victory over the fifth-seed Blazers in Friday afternoon’s New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship semifinals men’s soccer game at Everett Field in Bennington, Vt.

Laramee applies pressure in Westfield State win

WESTFIELD — Anthony Laramee of Wilbraham picked up a pair of sacks as Westfield State defeated Fitchburg State 34-7 on Nov. 5.

Hauser triumphs for St. Michael’s

BURLINGTON, VT — Junior Emma Hauser of Longmeadow won the 1,000-yard freestyle as the Saint Michael's College women’s swimming and diving team opened the season with a win, topping Colby-Sawyer College 152-127.
