I Sit Alone
|I sit alone upon my perch,|
glancing across the field in search.
The dewdrops were fresh like tears,
returning me to my younger years.
I looked for food, and all I found
was a mouse and a rabbit moving around.
Then a cool breeze distracted my view.
I caught a glimpse of something new.
There was a light fragrance in the air.
Laughter came from everywhere.
Then two children came very near.
They ran and played, frightening a deer.
Then their mother, tall and fair,
Called them back with tender care.
She picked them up and took them home.
And now I sit here all alone.
