A Brief Glimpse

With thought my sole companion
I walked along the dusty road.
The sun stretched toward the horizon,
As I witnessed the vision unfold.

I viewed the world before me
As emptied vessels tossed
Upon a barren wasteland of dreams
Entire civilizations lost.

Side by side, they lay
One atop another
Toppled by madmen
Brother murdered brother.

Merciless wasteland of humankind
Acts devoid of all humanity
Devastation so complete,
Testament to man's catastrophe.

What if anything can I do?
I walked on in near despair;
Then I heard the voice within
Suggest I turn to prayer.

With faltering step, I halted,
On bended knee, I prayed,
"May peace enshroud this planet earth,
May Love be our crusade?"
