Sophie's Smile

Sophie's Smile

The turnpike spurs my eager foot one hour east

to feast a velvet blush on virgin brow. Spun sugar breath

and warbled coos draw my heart where tiny bird lips

purse and trickle silver sweetness. A daughter's flowing gift

sustains and lifts immortal nature onward. Purest bud and

ancestral root share their dream of fertile yield at

harvest field beyond. Dimpled hands rise heavenward

and curl of angel mouth unfurls your first beloved kiss.
