#33 Cody Wild

Question: Coming out of Providence College in the Hockey East and entering your first pro game back on March 19, what was going through your mind?

Answer: I'm just really excited and nervous. I think the nerves got out of the way once I get out there and took a good hit.

Question: How did the season go this year for the Friars?

Answer: It went pretty well. We finished fifth in the standings. We lost in the first round of the playoffs to Boston College. We didn't want to end out that way, we wanted to continue further but that's what happens.

Question: You're 6'1, 205 pounds. What type of defenseman can the fans expect from you?

Answer: I like to jump in the rush. Move the puck. I like to get in the offense a lot. Play defense as well.

Question: You were drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the 5th round of 2006. What is it like to be here strapping on a uniform here in the Oiler system?

Answer: It's surreal. It just came so quick. I was just drafted two years ago. Now all of a sudden I am playing pro hockey. It's crazy. It's a great experience.

Question: You're going to be reunited here with your former teammate, Colin McDonald. What is that like?

Answer: Colin has helped me out a lot. I called him to let him know. He was really excited. I came to Springfield and he helped me out big by showing me around and introducing me to some of the guys. He has really been a big help.

Question: Made your transition easier?

Answer: Yeah. It made it a lot easier knowing someone.

Question: Did you know anyone else on this team?

Answer: I met a couple of guys in the prospects camp last year. They all have been great to me too. A bunch of the guys have really helped me out with the transition.

Question: Well, your parachuted right into a playoff battle in your first pro game. It must be pretty surreal for you?

Answer: Yeah. The battle with the Monarchs is just crazy and I am glad to be a part of it now.

Question: Well, you're a Limestone, Maine native. What is it like going up head to head with other New England based team?

Answer: It's great. I was actually born in Maine. I live in Providence most of my life and it is great, just being in New England alone. It is just a small territory. It's awesome.
