NORTH DARTMOUTH — Junior forward Phil Bronner, a Wilbraham native, scored the eventual winning goal 1:54 into the second period and assisted on a first period goal as UMass-Dartmouth defeated Westfield State (WSU) 5-2 on Dec. 1.
Bronner’s goal came on the power play after Adam Baldassarre was sent to the penalty box for holding. It was his sixth goal of the season.
Pessolano keeps scoring for Golden Bears
SPRINGFIELD — Ali Pessolano continued her strong play for the Western New England (WNE) women’s basketball team in a pair of losses last week.
The Hampden native chipped-in with 10 points, but fell to Wesleyan 69-39 on Dec. 6.
She followed that up with a 14-point effort and six rebounds in a close 53-50 loss to Mount Ida College on Dec. 8.

SPRINGFIELD — Senior guard Jeileen Rivera of Springfield posted 10 points as the Mount Ida College women’s basketball team posted a 53-50 victory over WNE on Dec. 8.
Cooper drains 13 in AIC win
SPRINGFIELD — Sophomore forward Brennan Cooper of Springfield had a season-high 13 points to go along with with six boards, two assists and two steals as the American International College men’s basketball team held off a late run by visiting Southern Connecticut State University to record a 76-73 Northeast-10 victory on Dec. 3
Jones lifts WSU to win
WESTFIELD — Senior point guard Janae Jones of Springfield had 13 points and 4 steals to lead WSU to a 57-46 victory over Lasell College in women's basketball action on Dec. 8. Springfield’s Gabby Felix added 11 rebounds in the victory.
