Central High School alum Gervais headed to national championships March 7,

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Westfield State University (WSU) sophomore Targie Gervais placed first in the 60 meter dash at the ECAC Division III indoor track and field championships at the Armory in New York City on March 2.
The Central High School graduate won with a time of 7.67. She set a school record in the trials in 7.66.
With the win, she was named Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) indoor track and field athlete of the week.
Gervais will next make her second appearance at the national championships, this time ranked second. She earned All-America honors as a freshman by placing seventh in the 100 meter dash at the 2011 outdoor meet. Gervais did not compete during the 2011-2012 academic year.
Feliz named to MASCAC honor roll
BUZZARDS BAY – Springfield's Gabby Felix, WSU's sophomore center, was named to the MASCAC women's basketball weekly honor roll on March 3.
Felix averaged 10.5 points and seven rebounds during the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference New England Championships for the Owls, including 10 points and seven boards in a 66-58 quarterfinal round victory at Roger Williams.
Felix was the lone Owl in double-figures with 11 points on 5-for-11 shooting in WSU's 53-43 semifinal loss to top-seeded Castleton State College.
Berthiaume's career high not enough
SPRINGFIELD – Alex Berthiaume netted a career-best 35 points, including the 1,000th of his career, however the Ithaca College men's basketball team defeated host Springfield College, 89-77, in a NCAA Division III Championship first round contest in front of 1,600 fans in Blake Arena on March 2.
Mazza nets two in loss
CHICOPEE – Elms College sophomore midfielder Lauren Mazza of Feeding Hills scored two goals but Thomas College secured a a17-4 victory over the Blazers women's lacrosse team on March 2.
Guenther scores in setback
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Sophomore midfielder Zak Guenther of South Hadley opened the scoring for the American International College men's lacrosse team just 1:26 into the game, but Roberts Wesleyan College went on a five-goal run that spanned the first and second quarters and never looked back as it defeated the Yellow Jackets 10-6 on March 2.
Vautrin posts strong efforts for Elms
CHICOPEE – Freshman outside hitter Jeff Vautrin of Chicopee owned a match-high seven kills to help the Blazers to a 3-0 (25-10, 25-6, 25-15) sweep of Regis College on March 2.
Freshman outside hitter Aleksandr Kuzmenko (Chicopee, Mass.) finished with six kills.
Vautrin then downed a team-high 16 kills on 21 swings with just one error to hit .714, but No. 12 Vassar College earned a 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-23) win over the Blazers.
Golden Bears upset in Spring Classic
PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – West Springfield's Tim Clark went 1-for-4 at the plate and scored two runs, but Keene State upset the Western New England baseball team 6-5 in 13 innings during the second day of the Spring Classic co-hosted by Farmingdale State and Saint Joseph's-Long Island on March 2.
The following day, Clark has two hits in five at-bats, driving in a run while scoring another in a 7-1 win over Saint Joseph's-Long Island.
