Extreme racing to make tracks on the MassMutual Center ice |

SPRINGFIELD -- XiiR, the X-treme International Ice Racing AMA Pro Tour, will be hitting the ice at the MassMutual Center on Feb. 13 and 14. The series features lightning quick speedway motorcycles and ATV racing on a thick oval track of ice. Top professional riders from England, Scotland, Canada and the United States in two professional divisions will each be competing for National Championship titles. The event also features an amateur quad division, showcasing local ATV riders who join XiiR for two nights of pure adrenaline.
The speedway motorcycles are very lightweight, volatile machines that resemble mountain bikes with large powerful engines burning on nitromethane fuel. What separates the bikes from other forms of racing is the no brakes allowed rule! All machines are equipped with razor sharp steel studded tires and are capable of accelerating from zero to 60 miles per hour in under three seconds! Visualize all this inside the tight confines of an ice hockey rink and you just may be close to imagining the thrill of this X-treme winter motorsport. Wild machines seen nowhere else and crazy bump-and-grind action are the trademarks of XiiR/AMA quad racing.
Local ATV riders have a chance to race with the pros and capture the reward from SuperTrapp Industries Dash 4 Cash! This $500 reward challenges any local quad racer who can compete against the XiiR Quad Roster and win the main event!
In two hours fans will see up to 20 exciting races to determine event champions. Racers will earn valuable championship points toward the sport's most prestigious title -- the 2009 XiiR/AMA National Ice Racing Champion.
