Memorial softball tourney to take place on Saturday |

WILBRAHAM The 2nd annual Christopher J. Burnham Memorial Fund Softball Tournament will take place on June 26 in Wilbraham at Minnechaug and Mile Tree Fields. Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Christopher J. Burnham Memorial Fund, and will be used to provide scholarships and other opportunities to deserving young people.
Christopher, the son of Kevin and Barbara Burnham of Wilbraham, passed away in 2009 at the age of 20. A 2007 graduate of Minnechaug Regional High School, Chris played for the varsity baseball and golf teams there. He was in his sophomore year at Elms College, where he played first base for the Elms' Blazers.
Fifteen teams have entered the tournament that begins at 8 a.m. and concludes with the championship game at 4 p.m. An awards dinner will follow at Elmcrest Country Club in East Longmeadow. At that time, five $1000 scholarships will be awarded to area high school seniors.
