WNE lacrosse earns national ranking

BALTIMORE – The Western New England University men's lacrosse team will play its first game of 2013 with a No. 18 national ranking, according to Inside Lacrosse (IL) magazine in its 2013 Face-Off Yearbook edition.

Western New England, which is projected to return six starters among 39 lettermen from last season's 13-5 team that swept the Commonwealth Coast Conference regular-season (7-0) and tournament titles, opens up against NCAA Semifinalist Stevenson (March 2) on the road.

The Golden Bears are the only CCC team listed in the national rankings.

Besides the top-ranked Mustangs, Western New England also plays at two other final four teams from last season in No. 4 Tufts (March 24) and No. 2 SUNY Cortland (April 4).

In fact, almost half of the Golden Bears' 15-game regular season schedule is comprised of nationally ranked teams that appear in the IL preseason poll.
