Pennington honored again

SPRINGFIELD — For the second-straight week, Kellie Pennington was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Athletes of the Week for her efforts in swimming at The College of New Jersey Invitational this past weekend.

Pennington, a freshman from Monson, recorded three individual victories over the weekend at the Invitational, and has been named the NEWMAC Women's Swimmer of the Week. She took home the win in the 100 fly with a NCAA qualifying time of 57.66.

She controlled the 100 free event, placing first and posting her second win of the night. In that event, she again had an NCAA qualifying time of 51.84.

She also continued to excel in the 50 free as she won in 23.56. As for relay events, she was on the winning 400 relay that cruised to victory in 3:32.82, swam on the winning 200 free relay that sprinted to a win in 1:36.84, and was also a member of the winning 800 free relay that touched in 7:50.11.
