Smead Arena to host January pajama drive |
|
SPRINGFIELD FMC Ice Sports will host a week-long charity pajama drive from Jan. 23 to 30 at the Smead Arena to benefit local families in need this winter. Skaters who bring in new children's pajamas for Cradles to Crayons during this time will be given a free public skate pass to be used during a future visit to the arena.
A special DJ public skate will take place Jan. 30 from 2 to 3:50 p.m.
"FMC Ice Sports is committed to providing skaters with a wonderful opportunity to give back to their local communities," said Alane Swiderski, director of skating programs at FMC Ice Sports. "Since 2002, Cradles to Crayons has been providing children between the ages of birth and 12 with the most important basics of life, from school supplies to pajamas. When our patrons donate to such a cause, it's amazing to see the outcomes and how appreciative everyone can be."
The Smead Arena is an official Cradles to Crayons drop-off center and charitable donations can be made Jan. 23 through 30 during arena business hours.
