BALTIMORE, Md. – Inside Lacrosse magazine recently published its preseason All-America teams in its 2013 Face-Off Yearbook edition, and Western New England University (WNE) seniors Aaron Harris and Corey Johnson both made honorable mention as a defenseman and midfielder, respectively.
Harris was voted the defensive player of the Year by both the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC New England) and Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) as a junior, when he recorded 41 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers. He led WNE defenders in ground balls and the entire squad in caused turnovers en route to being placed on the first team by All-New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, CCC and ECAC New England.
Johnson was first-team All-CCC and All-NEILA Division III, along with third-team United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse (USILA) Division III All-America, after posting eight points in 17 starts a year ago. He is the team's top returning ground ball specialist with 51.
Harris and Johnson are among the top players returning on a Golden Bears squad that compiled a 13-5 record for the program's ninth consecutive winning campaign in 2011 en route to winning the CCC regular-season title with a perfect 7-0 mark and capturing their third conference crown in five years. The Golden Bears were ranked 15th in the final USILA Coaches' poll.
