Indian Orchard Mills debut new show

INDIAN ORCHARD The Artists at Indian Orchard Mills will host this year's festive event on Nov. 10 and 11 from 12 - 4 pm. The show will feature all new work from over 50 artists, to be hung in the Dane Gallery by local art consultant, Sally Johnson. Guests are invited to view the show, enjoy refreshments, explore private art studios and catch a number of artists demonstrating their techniques throughout the vast Indian Orchard Mills complex. The suggested donation is $2 per adult, with children welcome free of charge.

"This is a transition time for us," said Charles Brush, owner of Indian Orchard Mills. "It's a time when working studios are transformed into individual small galleries, ready to greet the public and display new works in a diverse range of mediums from oils, pastels, acrylics, watercolors, sculptures and glassworks to textiles, woodworking, graphic design, animation and everything in between. The place comes alive in anticipation of the Open Studios. This event gives people a chance to meet new friends and even purchase art for their homes, or gifts for the holiday season."

"The Village of Indian Orchard is becoming a great destination for the arts," said Brian Hale, owner of Design Workshop. "The presence of art is all around you as you drive down Main Street. The Dane Gallery and art studios at Indian Orchard Mills, the Village Art Walk and the latest addition of Gallery 137 are just the beginning of greater things to come."

The newest artists to join the Mills' art community are Al Govoni, Chris Bordenca, Paul Brown, Hands on Health and RLM Productions. Govoni has studied photography for 40 years; his focus is on portraits and model portfolios.

A native of Wilbraham and chef by trade, Brown has been studying the style of glasswork known as lampworking under the direction of world renowned glass artist Sally Prasch. Lampworking is a technique which utilizes a torch versus the traditional hot shop method of furnaces containing molten glass. His current focus is marbles and beads such as multi colored pendants.

Bordenca is a painter whose current emphasis is on the process of creation. Bordenca's current project is documenting a series of abstract paintings using time lapse photography. He is a graduate of the UMass Amherst (B.F.A.) and has been commissioned to paint a variety of murals over the past 11 years.

Malisa Ochotnicky, owner of Hands On Health and Licensed Massage Therapist, graduated from the Stillpoint Massage Program at Greenfield Community College where she studied integrated Swedish Massage. She has also been trained in Thai Yoga Massage, Positional Release Therapy, Reflexology, and Hot Stone Massage and is a certified member of Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals.

RLM Productions is a marketing and media company performing in-house video, graphic design and Web site design services. RLM's goal is to assist companies on their path to success, whether already established or just starting out they welcome the opportunity to offer their services in aiding the growth of your company.
