Murder mystery at the Moose

CHICOPEE If you love a great mystery and welcome the chance to play detective to win prizes circle Sept. 14 on your calendar for a benefit at the Moose Family Center.

The fundraiser is being billed as "A Fairy Tear-Able Tale," and promises a lot of laughs and all for a good cause the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation.

Known in the city as the "Cystic Fibrosis Tigers," a dedicated group of volunteers continue to rally the support of the community in various venues to raise funds for CF research, according to Bill McMahon, the team leader of the CF Tigers. Since the spring of 2006, McMahon and his volunteers have raised almost $4,000 for the cause.

"Area residents should attend the show because not only are they getting a good meal, a great show and a night out, they are helping to save lives," he said during an interview with Reminder Publications.

The Comical Mystery Tour troupe will present the lively show that features slapstick, in-your-face humor and a lot of singing. Local owners Ken and Terry Adams note on their Web site that they like their audiences to "let go of the thoughts for the day and come along for a ride of laughter with a little intrigue thrown in for kicks."

In addition to a variety of off-the-wall prize giveaways, the top prize is an overnight stay at Foxwoods and a voucher for $120 at Cedar's Restaurant. Additional prizes that are up for grabs when solving the mystery include wine, champagne and certificates from Bernat's Deli and EB's Restaurant.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with the dinner and show starting promptly at 6:30. The main course will be served at 7:30. The menu features garden salad, mashed potato, vegetable du jour, chicken cordon bleu, rolls, beverage and strawberry shortcake.

Tickets are $35 per person which includes the three-course meal and show at the Moose Family Center on Fuller Road. The deadline to purchase tickets is Sept. 7.

For tickets and more information, call 325-1940. Tickets are also available at Larry's Supply, 155 East Main St.
