Pianist Martin Kas k returns to the Pioneer Valley

Czech pianist Martin Kas k will make a return appearance in the Springfield area to perform concerts with Czech pianist Kristina Kas kov . Kas k visited the area last May to perform concerts and to conduct a master class. His artistry was judged by musicians and musicologists who attended the concerts to be unsurpassed by any other pianist in the world. He was immediately invited to return because of the popular request made by these individuals.
He will be accompanied on the upcoming visit by his wife Kas kov , who is also an acclaimed pianist.
The unique and personal qualities in Kas k's music-making have won him important contests and rave reviews all over the world. He won first prize at the 1999 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, the 1999 Akzo Nobel Prize, the 2000 Alexander Kasza-Kasser Prize of YCA and the 2000 Davidoff Prize. Kas k has performed other critically-acclaimed concerts.
In recital, he has appeared at the Washington's Kennedy Center, Alice Tully Hall, New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, Boston's Isabella Steward Gardner Museum and on tour of America with the Prague Symphony including a performance of the incredibly difficult, but beautiful, piano concerto by Dvor k at the Bushnell Theater in Hartford, Conn.
Kas kov has been playing the piano since the age of seven. She studied at the Ostrava Conservatoire with Monika Tugendliebova and at the Prague Music Academy. Kas kov is a passionate chamber music player.
Upcoming events featuring Kas k and Kas kov is as follows:
Jan. 30: Concert at the Wood Memorial Library, 783 Main St., South Windsor, Conn., at 7:30 p.m. Donations requested.
Jan. 31: Concert at the First Congregational Church of West Springfield, Park Street (on the common), West Springfield at 7:30 p.m. Donations requested.
Feb. 3: Concert at the meeting of the Tuesday Morning Music Club at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 361 Sumner Ave., Springfield, at 10:30 a.m. Non-members are $10.
Major financial support for the concerts has been received from South Windsor Cultural Arts; the West Springfield Arts Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency; and the Tuesday Morning Music Club.
