Inspiration for Your Next Getaway

May 17th, 2014.

10:30 AM to 12:30 PM

Glenmeadow, 24 Tabor Crossing

Glenmeadow at (413) 567-7800 or email learning@glenmeadow.org

Glenmeadow Retirement will host a Travel Expo with nearly 20 exhibitors, “Inspiration for Your Next Getaway,” on Saturday, May 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Glenmeadow, 24 Tabor Crossing.

Multiple local travel agents will be on hand to offer options for active older adults, seniors and their families, and area experts will offer tips on topics such as keeping a travel journal, taking great photos and meal planning while away from home.

“There will be something for everyone,” said Linda Edwards, director of marketing at Glenmeadow, noting there will be information on everything from day trips to travel abroad. “We’re excited to be offering this free, new event to the community. We will be offering a range of resources and information that will be helpful and interesting to greater Springfield’s active older adults and their families.”

The following is the schedule for expo presenters: 10:30 a.m., Writer Janice Beetle of Easthampton, “10 Tips for Keeping a Travel Journal or Blog:; 10:45 a.m., Susan Como, “Traveling Solo, Traveling Safe”; 11 a.m., Vincent Brown, Collette Tours, “Traveling Abroad”; 11:15 a.m., Jim Gambaro of Jim Gambaro Photography in Belchertown, “Taking Good Travel Photos”; 11:30 a.m., Kirk Olson, Sandals Resorts, “The Benefits of All-Inclusive Resorts”; Noon, Health Coach Kathie Sugar of the Berkshires, “Eating Healthy While You’re Away from Home”; and 12:15 p.m., Brett Isaacson, Friendship Tours, “Booking Through the Web Versus a Tour Operator.”

Gambaro will have his travel photos on display and for sale, and Broadside Bookshop of Northampton will offer books for sale, including suggested fiction and nonfiction titles for vacation reading and books on traveling.

Seymour Frankel, a Glenmeadow resident, will also offer information on the Glenmeadow Express trips he leads to the University of Massachusetts Fine Arts Center in Amherst.

The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited.
