Ad Club of Western Mass. president elected to AAF Board of Directors/Council of Governors

SPRINGFIELD The American Advertising Federation (AAF), the oldest national trade association for the advertising industry, has announced the election of its 2009-10 Board of Directors and Officers. Alta J. Stark, outgoing president of the Advertising Club of Western Massachusetts and senior communications specialist at Baystate Health, has been elected to the board as the sitting Governor of District 1, which covers all of New England, and Chair of Division 3, which includes clubs of 100 to 249 members.

"Alta's representation on the Council of Governors and her leadership in the Western Massachusetts market and the entire New England area will be of great value to the AAF as we develop, implement and grow programs and initiatives that address the needs of our clubs and federations, their leaders and members," said Joanne Schecter, executive vice president, AFF Club Services.

The Council of Governors (COG) is composed of the 15 governors who represent each AAF district and who oversee, advise and counsel the work and success of member clubs and federations. The COG is an important sub-committee of the National Board of Directors, and as such, each governor is a voting member of the national board of directors. In turn, the governors are responsible to the board for implementation of all policies, procedures and initiatives approved on the national level.

The AAF National Board of Directors is composed of the COG, advertising agency representatives, advertiser companies, at large members and executive committee members led by Frank Cooper, CMO, Sparkling Beverages, Pepsi-Cola North America Beverages, chairman, and Mike Shaw, president, Sales & Marketing of ABC Television Network, vice chairman.

Election announcements were made at the AAF National Conference 2009 in Washington, D.C. For a complete list of AAF Board of Directors, visit aaf.org or adclubwm.org.
