Fundraising professionals to celebrate National Philanthropy Day Nov. 19

The Western Massachusetts Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals will celebrate National Philanthropy Day on Nov. 19 at the Log Cabin Banquet and Meeting House in Holyoke by honoring four individuals and an institution for their significant philanthropic contributions to the people of Western Massachusetts.

AFP announced that the following philanthropists volunteer fundraisers and will be recognized and honored at this year's event:

Thomas R. Creed, nominated by the YMCA of Greater Springfield, will be honored as the 2008 Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year;

John W. McNair III, nominated by Baystate Health Foundation, will be awarded the Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year.

Kayla Peloquin, nominated by Wilbraham and Monson Academy, will be recognized as the Outstanding Young Philanthropist/Fundraiser Volunteer; and

Bay Path College, of Longmeadow, will receive the first President's Award.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals is an international organization that represents over 30,000 members in 197 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The association fosters development and growth of fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession.
