Goldsmith receives first Pro Bono Award for Western Massachusetts

SPRINGFIELD – Jonathan R. Goldsmith, Esq., was selected as the first recipient of the Massachusetts Bankruptcy Court Pro Bono Award for Western Massachusetts. |
Goldsmith, a partner in the Springfield-based law firm of Goldsmith, Katz & Argenio, PC, received the recognition award from the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts.
The Recognition Awards Program honors those in the legal professions who have improved the availability of and delivered volunteer legal services in Massachusetts. The awards recognize those who have served their local communities as well as assisted in the administration of justice in the United States Bankruptcy Court. Goldsmith was presented the award by at a special reception at the John Joseph Moakley Courthouse in Boston on Oct. 23.
For more than 25 years, Goldsmith, a specialist in bankruptcy and commercial law, has represented debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, trustees, financial institutions and creditors’ committees. His practice includes representation of parties in cases under Chapter 7, 11 and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code as well as informal workouts. He has been invited to participate as an expert as a panelist and lecturer in programs related to his areas of expertise and has authored articles for legal publications.
A resident of Longmeadow, Goldsmith received his bachelor’s degree from Boston College and his Juris Doctor degree from Western New England University School of Law.
Among other affiliations and accomplishments, he is a member of the Massachusetts and Hampden County Bar Associations and a panel member of the Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustees for the District of Massachusetts, Central and Western Divisions.
