HOLYOKE — Are you bilingual? Holyoke Community College (HCC) now offers a certificate program to train interpreters and translators to meet the demand in medical, legal, social service and government settings, as well as international and private companies. Taught in English, this five-course program teaches protocols, techniques, ethics and standards for aspiring or practicing interpreters and translators. Students must be fluent in English and a second language. This program does not evaluate foreign language skills.
Classes start on Jan. 31 and meet Mondays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $299 per course. For information contact HCC Community Services at 552-2324 or www.hcc.edu/ces.
Holyoke Community College is the Commonwealth's oldest community college, serving more than 12,500 students annually in credit and noncredit programs and courses.
