Work by members of the paper's graphic design and editorial departments garnered awards during the recent Independent Free Papers of America/Southeastern Advertising Publisher's Association convention in Nashville, Tenn. In achieving second place in the Vic Jose Award for General Excellence, the company's newspapers were judged on the basis of having more than 25 percent editorial content, overall appearance, use of photographs, graphics and artwork, page organization, print and graphic quality, general readability and overall look and design of the publication.
