Sullivan Hayes & Quinn adds three to its legal team

SPRINGFIELD — With the addition of three new attorneys, Sullivan Hayes & Quinn is now the largest employment law firm in Western Massachusetts. According to Managing Partner Meghan Sullivan, "With 13 attorneys, the firm is now poised for growth." Sullivan Hayes & Quinn has offices in downtown Springfield and New York City.
Among the three new additions is Russell F. Denver. No stranger to area businesses, Denver served as president of the Affiliated Chambers of Comm-erce of Greater Springfield from 1996 until February 2011.
Denver received his juris doctor from Western New England University where he continues to serve as an adjunct faculty member. He practiced law from 1992 through 1996, special-izing in municipal and zoning law. The public sector will continue to be one of his primary focus areas.
He is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Florida.
Active in community and civic activities, Denver has served as the vice chair of the Springfield Technical Community College Assistance Corporation and a Trustee of the Pioneer Valley Plan for Progress. He is a board member of the United Way of the Pioneer Valley and the Springfield Business Leaders for Education.
James R. Channing, former Hampden County Assistant District Attorney, will serve as a litigator for the firm.
He has earned a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution and will be called upon to apply his skills in this area of specialty.
Among Channing's accom-plishments is his receipt of the 2010 MCAA Spotlight Award. Prior to being admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 2005, Channing served as a summer law clerk in the U.S. Attorney's Office in the District of Massachusetts for the Department of Justice.
He received his juris doctor from Hamline University School of Law in Saint Paul, Minn., and served as an associate with the Hamline Journal of Law and Public Policy.
Kate O'Brien is starting her professional legal career as an associate at Sullivan Hayes & Quinn.
She was a cum laude undergraduate of the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
She earned her juris doctor from the Western New England School of Law, again graduating with cum laude honors.
While in law school, she served as the production editor of the Western New England Law Review.
She's admitted to practice in both Massachusetts and Connect-icut.
