Westfield Bank starts Future Fund Scholarships

WESTFIELD Westfield Bank President and CEO James C. Hagan announced plans to introduce the Future Fund Scholarship Program. The bank will award seven $1,000 higher education scholarships to local graduating high school seniors. The money will help with tuition for a college, university, technical institute or other continuing higher education program of their choice.

Eligible students must live or attend high school in one of the following communities: Westfield, Springfield, Agawam, Holyoke, Southwick, East Longmeadow or West Springfield.

"An educated workforce is a critical component to the economic recovery of our region," Hagan said. "As the cost of tuitions rise, we thought it was timely to introduce the Future Fund Scholarship Program to help young people in our community receive a higher education."

Since 2002, Westfield Bank's Future Fund has awarded more than $2 million dollars to support local services in our communities.

Program guidelines and applications are available online at www.westfieldbank.com/scholarship.

To enter, qualified high school students must print and fill out the application and complete a 250-word writing assignment that answers the question: "If you were awarded this scholarship, what would the press release say about you?"

Applicants must submit the application and writing assignment to Westfield Bank no later than 5 p.m. on March 31.

The seven scholarship recipients will be announced on May 3. An awards ceremony will take place later that month.
