Fourteen of the Armor's 24 home games will take place on either Friday or Saturday.
"We are thrilled with how our first schedule played out," Principal Owner Michael Savit said. "Being able to open at home is huge, and having so many weekend dates especially early will afford people from throughout the Pioneer Valley to get a first-hand account of the excitement we're bringing to the MassMutual Center and, more broadly, to the community."
The Armor and New England's other NBA D-League team, the Maine Red Claws, will match up nine times, beginning with a home-and-home series Dec. 4 at Maine and Dec. 5 in Springfield. The rivalry between the Armor and the Red Claws, who are affiliated with the Boston Celtics, could gain significant momentum in January as the teams play each other five consecutive times from Jan. 8 through Jan. 21.
"Having a geographic rival in Maine will be great for adding to the passion the community already has generated for Springfield Armor basketball," Armor General Manager Alex Schwerin said. "The fact that they are affiliated with the Boston Celtics likely will enhance the rivalry's development and create an increased buzz at our games."
The Armor will host the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in their home finale on April 1 before concluding their regular-season slate on the road against the Erie BayHawks. Also highlighting the 2009-10 NBA D-League schedule is the All-Star Game and Dream Factory, which is part of NBA Jam Session presented by adidas at NBA All-Star 2010 in Dallas. The Armor also will participate in the 2010 NBA D-League Showcase, which will take place from Jan. 4 through 7 at Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho.
