Atrium invites public to seminar on Alzheimer's patients
AGAWAM - The public is invited to "Entering Their World, Their Reality: How Would I Feel? A Look Inside the World of Alzheimer's." Breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m., followed by the presentation at 9 a.m., on Aug. 14 at The Atrium at Cardinal Drive senior living community. The community is located at 153 Cardinal Dr.
Mal Allard, nurse and Alzheimer's consultant, will present the seminar, which offers 1.0 CEU's to nurses. She will discuss how to cope with the daily challenges of caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's disease by "entering their world."
Attendees will also learn:
• How people with Alzheimer's and dementia may feel or think within their disease process
• Why people with Alzheimer's no longer live or communicate in the "real world"
• How to address emotions of dementia in promoting positive communication and interactions.
