Beacon Hospice offers training
SPRINGFIELD Beacon Hospice Inc., will host a hospice volunteer training program on March 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and March 19 and 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Beacon Hospice office, located at 815 Worcester St.
Hospice volunteers offer companionship, reassurance and support to terminally ill individuals and their loved ones. Volunteers may also engage in various activities, including reading aloud, helping to write letters, lending a listening ear and providing a calm and reassuring presence.
Hospice volunteers are required to graduate from an extensive training program that prepares them intellectually, emotionally and spiritually for the role they play in the lives of those they assist. Beacon Hospice provides quality end-of-life care to local terminally ill patients out of its Springfield office and relies on volunteers to ensure the delivery of extraordinary care to these patients.
The training is free of charge and registration is required. For information and other training dates, contact Stacy Karpowitz at 543-3133.
