Cancer Connection set to host Harvest Celebration

NORTHAMPTON -- On Oct. 29, from 6 to 10 p.m., Cancer Connection is hosting a Harvest Solstice Celebration Dinner and Silent Auction. Rob Watson will co-host the celebration with Patrick Viteri of Patrick & Company. The event will take place at the Look Park Garden House, 300 N. Main St., Florence, and will be catered by Rob Watson of Lone Wolf in Amherst. This gala event raises funds to underwrite the programs and services at the heart of Cancer Connection's mission. The gourmet menu features roasted beef tenderloin and salmon as well as a vegetarian crepe stuffed with butternut squash, caramelized onions, Swiss chard, feta and more.
The evening will include a silent auction featuring many wonderful pieces of artwork, jewelry, vacation getaways, practical gifts and gift certificates to local merchants and service providers. Live music will be provided by Anne Louise White on keyboard, while attendees enjoy hors d'oeuvres and The Bruce Kelley Gary Jackson jazz duo during dinner.
Founded ten years ago, Cancer Connection has provided a compassionate resource to thousands of people living with cancer and their loved ones. The center offers eight cancer support groups, including one in Amherst: breast cancer and lymphedema, gynecologic cancers, melanoma, all-cancers and caregivers and families. Complementary thera-pies encompass Reiki, reflexology, massage therapy, therapeutic facials and ear acupuncture to help clients cope with the inevitable stress of a cancer diagnosis and treatment. The center also offers extended programs to strengthen the body and soothe the soul aqua aerobics, Pilates, music and movement, writing, painting and knitting. Most of all, Cancer Connection provides a haven where people with cancer can find a ready ear, suggestions for community resources, courage to advocate for themselves and compassion. All programs are free of charge to people living with cancer and their families and caregivers.
The event is open to all. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $70. Early reservations are encouraged. This event sold out last year.
