Debbie's Dynamic Dancers promote health and fun

Debbie's Dynamic Dancers took second place overall with "There's No Business Like Show Business" at the Jackie Horner Ballroom/Line Festival in Callicoon, N.Y. The Villa Roma was the host site and the ladies danced to an originally choreographed dance by Debbie Tracy (center).
Debbie's Dynamic Dancers are spreading the benefits of line dancing throughout the community. Of the many pluses, Debbie Tracy lists weight loss, maintenance and control of high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, stress management, better posture and balance, an increase in strength and flexibility and a building up of confidence. According to New England Journal of Medicine, line dancing at least two times a week made participants less likely to develop dementia. In essence, line dancing is a great mind and body workout, and that may be due to having to remember and execute the dance steps and sequences. Dancing is energizing and social and it can burn up to 375 calories per hour. Dance categories include traditional, country, Latin, folk and ballroom style. Line dancing is a great, low-impact exercise that anyone can do. Line dancing classes are readily available throughout the area, including afternoon classes on Fridays at the East Longmeadow Senior Center. Anyone interested can contact Tracy at 567-0773.
