|SPRINGFIELD The Entergy Charitable Foundation has committed to a $15,000 contribution to the American Red Cross to assist with disaster relief efforts following the tornadoes that devastated Central and Western Massachusetts on June 1.|
The contribution represents a combined donation from Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant in Vernon, Vt.; the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant in Plymouth, and Entergy corporate headquarters based in New Orleans, La. Both Vermont Yankee and Pilgrim have employees who live in the affected regions this contribution is a symbol of the corporate compassion for these communities and their issues of importance to their employees.
“We are very grateful for this very generous collective gift,” Paige Thayer, deputy director of chapter support for the American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter, said. “The compassion of individuals and organization both near and far is so heartwarming as our community works toward recovery following these horrific tornadoes.”
Both power plants are very involved in community activities and make charitable donations to many organizations in Massachusetts every year through the Entergy Charitable Foundation and Entergy corporate contributions program.
