|LONGMEADOW Glenmeadow residents and staff conducted a number of special events and activities to raise a total of $6,327 to support the Rays of Hope effort to fund breast cancer research. |
“Glenmeadow has supported Rays of Hope for many years, but this was our most successful fundraising effort ever,” Anne Miller, Glenmeadow assistant administrator, said. “Our residents and staff had fun, while supporting a cause that has touched many of those in the Glenmeadow family.”
Miller said they have organized a number of activities in the past, but a new idea this year proved to be extremely popular.
“We held a Pink Picnic every other Thursday all summer long that featured celebrity staff waiters,” Miller said. “The organizers for each picnic competed with one another to see who could raise the most money and it really created a lot of excitement.”
Miller said attendance at the Pink Picnics increased each week and were attended by residents, resident families, and staff members.
