Golf outing supports Shriners hospital

SPRINGFIELD — For the past 22 years the Melha Shriners Oriental Band has hosted a golf tournament to support Shriners events in Western Massachusetts. This year, all proceeds from the tournament will go to the Springfield Shriners Hospital for Children.
The tournament will take place on July 30 at Westover Golf Course. The format is a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start scramble. The registration fee is only $100 per golfer and includes a light lunch at the turn and a buffet dinner being catered by Leone’s Restaurant.
There will be a variety of contests (hole-in-one, closest to the pin, etc.) as well as a wide range of raffle prizes and a 50-50 raffle.
The Springfield Shriners Hospital is one of a network of 22 Shriners Hospitals in the United States, Canada and Mexico, which provide treatment for orthopedic needs, burns injuries and spinal cord injuries. All of the hospitals are teaching hospitals and do extensive research to endeavor to improve the quality of life for children and adolescents facing these challenges.
The Springfield Shriners Hospital also provides care in other specialties such as juvenile arthritis, cleft lip and palate and cerebral palsy. All of the care is done without expense to the patient or family.
Registrations must be in by July 22.
