Greater Springfield Senior Services taps Jenewin-Caplin as new director of Area Agency on Aging jenewin_caplin.jpg
GREATER SPRINGFIELD Mary Jenewin-Caplin was recently appointed to the position of Area Agency on Aging director at Greater Springfield Senior Services Inc. In this capacity she oversees the operation of the meals-on-wheels and congregate nutrition programs, the long term care ombuds-man program, and administers federal grants for community organizations that provide services to older adults. "Mary will be a tremendous asset to our agency," Elaine Massery, executive director of Greater Springfield Senior Services, said. "She brings more than 20 years of experience in program development and management, community outreach, and working with diverse constituencies in the Greater Springfield area. She has an understanding of the issues and challenges facing those that are aging, their caregivers, and the network of elder service providers." Prior to joining Greater Springfield Senior Services, Jenewin-Caplin served as marketing director for Jewish Geriatric Services in Longmeadow, and was the director of the Governor's Western Massachusetts office. Previous positions include community liaison for Spectrum Home Care, marketing officer at the Community Foundation in Springfield, and director of information and referral at the Community United Way. Jenewin-Caplin, who is an East Longmeadow resident, holds a master's degree in community leadership and development from Springfield College. Greater Springfield Senior Services Inc. provides a variety of services to help frail elders to live at home safely and independently for as long a possible. Home delivered meals, personal care, housekeeping, protective services, caregiver support, and information and referral are among the services it provides throughout its 12-town service area.
