Heartsong instructors 'will teach yoga for food'

This November Heartsong Yoga celebrates its 15th anniversary and kicks off its annual season for "giving back" to the community with several opportunities to enjoy yoga classes in exchange for generous non-perishable food item donations for the Open Pantry.

A special anniversary class will take place Nov. 21 at 5:45 p.m., an all levels class taught in a round robin style with many of the Heartsong teachers, and open to all.

On Thanksgiving morning at 9 a.m., Heartsong will open two classes to the public, an all levels class with the theme of "Gratitude & Appreciation," and an Ashtanga Power Yoga class held in silence as a meditation in motion. These classes will also be offered on New Year's Day at 3 p.m. to kick start a healthy New Year.

Walk-ins are welcome.

Heartsong is located at 264 North Main St., in the Condo East building on Rt. 83 in East Longmeadow. Call 525-0720 or visit for more information.

"Yoga for Food" goods that are always in demand include tuna fish, rice, dried beans, stews, dried milk, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti sauce, pasta, soups, jellies, canned fruit and canned vegetables. Heartsong Yoga also welcomes Open Pantry donations throughout the holiday season.
