|SPRINGFIELD Representatives from Holyoke Health Care Center presented a grant in the amount of $1,818.30 to the American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter. |
Holyoke Health Care Center and National Health Care Corporation through their charitable foundation The Foundation for Geriatric Education (TFGE) seeks to support community organizations who share their interest in providing life-saving training and teaching in the healthcare field.
The funds will be used toward the purchase of two manikins to be used in the training of students in our certified nurse assistant training program. The new tools will allow students the opportunity to practice skills that they cannot practice on each other.
The manikins are life-size and help give students the hands on experience they need to become a more effective Certified Nurse Assistant. They provide for a more "real life" experience when being trained with tools that more closely model a real human body. These new tools will help when training students on skills such as hygiene, feeding, patient transfer, practice of other medical techniques and more.
"We are very grateful for this donation, providing us the opportunity to purchase quality equipment to ensure we have the proper tools to ensure excellence in our teaching programs," Don May, director of Health and Safety Services for the American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter, said.
