Holyoke Medical Center, Susan G. Komen for Cure offer classes for patients

HOLYOKE Holyoke Medical Center will present a six-session yoga class specifically designed for individuals dealing with cancer and currently in cancer treatment, beginning Jan. 7 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the facility's Auxiliary Conference Center.
Additional classes will take place on Jan. 21, Feb. 4, 18, March 4 and 25 at the same time and place.
Cancer patients often find themselves in distracted states of mind.
When patients' minds are so filled with medical information and treatment protocols, making decisions or relating to their families and friends can be difficult. Practicing yoga and relaxation can help in relieving tension.
When tension is released, energy can flow more easily in the body and allow patients to experience a sense of well-being and strength.
The class, which is free for cancer patients, will be taught by Patty Zubini-Weiss, R.N., certified yoga instructor. This class is made possible through a grant from Susan G. Komen For The Cure.
