Holyoke Medical receives CAP accreditation
HOLYOKE – Holyoke Medical Center (HMC) is pleased to announce that it recently received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP) based on the results of a rigorous on-site inspection.
HMC Chief of Pathology Dr. Thomas S. Gould was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the excellence of the laboratory services being provided.
"This re-accreditation is the product of a team effort; so many members of the laboratory staff contributed to this accomplishment as they work diligently, on a daily basis, to provide the highest quality laboratory services to the patients of HMC," Gould said. "They should be very proud of the work they do and of this inspection result."
The CAP accreditation process is designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients. On-site inspectors examine the laboratory's records and quality control for all procedures for the preceding two years. Also examined are the laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.
Holyoke Medical Center is one of only 7,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.
