AMHERST – Katelynn’s Ride Inc. is currently accepting applications for the 2013 grant program to provide assistance and support to children and their families in Western Massachusetts who are fighting cancer. A single grant in the amount of $1,000 is awarded per calendar year to assist individuals and families with financial hardship as it relates to their medical needs. |
Requests for assistance may come from individuals, family members, treatment center staff, case managers, and other agencies on behalf of an individual or family seeking grant funds. Some examples of appropriate requests include those that cover unexpected medical expenses, contribute towards medical insurance expenses, cover the cost of transportation to treatment and/or cover the cost of hotel stays while receiving treatment.
Grant requests must be submitted in writing using the application available online at http://kride.org. The 2013 grant will be awarded Oct. 1.
Katelynn’s Ride/Walk benefits the Children’s Cancer Hope Fund at Baystate Medical Center’s Sadowsky Center for Children and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund.
Katelynn’s Ride/Walk was founded in memory of Katelynn Battista who lost her battle with cancer in 1997 at age 11. To date, Katelynn’s Ride/Walk has raised more than $1.6 million in the fight against cancer.
