River Valley Yoga offering retreats in July, August

June 20, 2013
FLORENCE – River Valley Yoga Center is offering staycation retreats in July and August for people looking to practice yoga over consecutive days in a comfortable, relaxed setting while staying local.

From July 22 to 26 or Aug. 12 to 16, people can choose either five-day or three-day retreats with both morning and evening options. The morning sessions run from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. and the evening sessions from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Participants can choose between twice-daily visits or a combination of morning and evening sessions.

Suzie Goldstein, co-owner of River Valley Yoga, said the retreats offer participants the opportunity to experience the healing power of practicing yoga every day. Participants will increase their strength and flexibility, replenish energy, receive individual attention and work through physical issues, such as low back pain or neck and shoulder tightness.

"This is a very unique and promising program," Goldstein said. "Yoga is a great way to cross train, complimenting your summer sports routine. After multiple days of consecutive practice, you will experience a difference not only in your body but also in your state of mind. Enjoy a retreat right in your area. Just you, your yoga mat and your practice."

The morning classes will energize students, teaching alignment of the body while flowing through postures with the breath, Goldstein said. Participants will open up specific areas of the body, such as neck/shoulders, hips, hamstrings and lower back.

In the evening, the focus will be on cooling the body and preparing for a good night's sleep by strengthening and stretching all areas of the body targeted in the morning class, leaving students feeling replenished and renewed.

The studio, 30 North Maple St., is open seven days a week and offers a variety of classes as well as private lessons and workshops. Currently, the studio is offering a new student rate of $40 for one month of unlimited yoga.

Prices for the staycation retreats vary per option.
