Vascular health lectures return to Baystate Medical Center |

SPRINGFIELD Baystate Medical Center will hold its popular annual Heart and Vascular Health Lecture Series during the month of February, beginning with a look at "Newest Insights into Preventing Cardiovascular Disease" on Feb. 6.
The Heart and Vascular Health Lecture Series, presented by the Baystate heart and vascular program as part of American Heart Month, will focus on presentations designed to assist participants in learning how they can maintain or improve their heart and vascular health.
Cardiologist Dr. Peter F. Robinson of Pioneer Valley Cardiology in Northampton will present the first of four free seminars at Baystate Health's Education Center at 361 Whitney Ave. in Holyoke. His presentation will focus on helping people identify if they are at risk for heart and vascular disease and how to live a healthier lifestyle.
All lectures will take place from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at 361 Whitney Ave.
The free lectures will continue with "Cardiac Surgery in the 21st Century," Feb. 13, featuring Dr. Daniel T. Engelman, cardiothoracic surgeon, Cardiac Surgical Associates of Western Mass.; "Navigating the Web and Health Information," Feb. 20, featuring Margot Malachowski, MLS, outreach librarian, Baystate Health Science Library; and "Advances in Interventional Cardiology," Feb. 27, with Dr. Gregory M. Giugliano, SM, FACC, associate director, Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Cardiology Research at Baystate Medical Center.
Heart healthy light refreshments will be served and educational hand-outs on heart and vascular health will be provided.

In addition, Baystate offers full HDL/LDL cholesterol screenings on the first and second Wednesdays of each month from 7:30 a.m. to 9:55 a.m. for $10 at its outpatient care facility on 3300 Main St. in Springfield.
