Phil Goncalves

"Phil Goncalves has great pride in his hometown of Ludlow and works tirelessly on a personal and business level to enhance the lives of the young people in Ludlow.

"For more than two decades, Phil has served as a board Member for Junior Achievement, teaching JA classes, serving as chairman, and starting the JA Advisory Council in Ludlow. Under Phil's initiative more than 900 students in grades K-12 annually participate in Junior Achievement's financial literacy classes.

"Phil also understands the importance of community support from local business leaders. For more than two decades Phil and Country Bank have underwritten the majority of JA programs in both Ludlow and Ware.

"Phil also serves on the Executive Committee for the Ludlow Boys and Girls Club, an organization he has supported financially and with volunteer hours for more than a decade. Always inspired to help the youth of Ludlow, Phil, despite his hectic work schedule, volunteer leadership service to several organizations, still finds time to serve as a coach for youth sports for more than a decade.

"It is a pleasure and an honor to nominate Phil Goncalves as a Hometown Hero for the town of Ludlow."
