Steve Graham

"As a 'Hometown Hero,' Steve Graham more than qualifies. His selfless dedication to the East Longmeadow Educational Endowment Fund is unprecedented. Steve served as the founder and president of this organization for over 9 years.

"While serving as a founding board member, I personally witnessed Steve's devotion to the endowment. He recruited board members who contributed $1,000 each to get the endowment going and growing. He actively sought out businesses and community leaders to do the same or their best.

"From different projects and events, over a quarter of a million dollars had been realized under Steve's leadership. Each year proceeds are distributed among the 5 schools in the form of competitive grants. Steve's purpose was always to enhance the education of the children in East Longmeadow. Everything from technology, supplies, guest speakers and the arts have been addressed over the years.

"Please note during Steve's reign the money realized may be even more than a quarter of a million.

"The motto of the endowment is 'Our goal is excellence in education.' Steve spearheaded that endeavor by creating a legacy that benefits the students of today and those yet to come.

"It is my pleasure and honor to nominate Steve Graham as a 'Hometown Hero.'
